The drone slammed straight into the rocks and plummeted 60 feet down the mountain. I genuinely thought it was done for. But a small palo verde tree broke the fall just enough to save it from total destruction. What followed was a sketchy hike up the mountain to retrieve it from the branches, wondering if I was climbing for a brick or a working drone. Spoiler alert: The Avata 2 survived. End of the video shows it flying perfectly in my house like nothing happened. Zero damage, zero issues. This is hands down the best advertisement for DJI's build quality I could ever make. Watch as I struggle to keep my drone stable while trying to capture these beautiful properties - definitely not what I planned for this flight session! This is a perfect example of why weather conditions are so crucial for drone flying. The wind was so intense that I was at full throttle for the entire 2 minutes of this video, barely moving at times! I even contemplated an emergency landing, but managed to swoop down between the canyon walls to get under the wind and safely fly back to the car. Same location, same day, but completely different visual story when you focus on the river as a pathway rather than viewing it as part of the broader landscape. Piano soundtrack complements the meditative quality of following the water's path through the desert. Good for relaxation or background viewing while you work. This area sees a lot of recreational traffic during tubing season, but from above you can really appreciate the ecological transition zone where Sonoran Desert meets riparian forest. What makes this shot interesting: ✈️ Natural river curves creating leading lines through the desert ✈️ Vegetation density that's rare in Arizona aerial footage ✈️ Recreational activity visible on the water (kayakers/tubers) ✈️ Mountain backdrop with that classic Arizona evening light The DJI Flip handled the changing light conditions well here – had to adjust exposure as I moved between the bright sky and the darker vegetation. The river's meandering path creates natural composition opportunities you don't get with most Arizona landscapes. This area gets heavy recreational use, especially during summer, but from above you can see how the river creates this green lifeline through otherwise typical Sonoran Desert terrain.
